Agnes Tirop who represented Kenya in the 5,000 women’s Olympics held in Tokyo died under unclear circumstances.
The police found her body stabbed in the neck today Wednesday 13th, 2021 at her home in Elgeyo Marakwet.
However new details concerning the Tokyo athlete’s death continue emerging as police try to solve this puzzle. While addressing journalists, Keiyo South OCPD Tim Makori opened up about the visit from Agnes Tirop and her husband’s parents.
Both families earlier Wednesday morning reported at the Iten Police station as a follow-up. This because on the previous day Tirop’s dad filed a report indicating his daughter missing.
However, during the interaction with the police, the parents of Tirop’s husband revealed a distraught call that he made. Apparently, he called them while crying and also asked for forgiveness. Even though he never disclosed what mistake he committed.
“Alarmed by the statements, police officers resulted to visiting their home. When they got inside, they found Agnes Tirop on the bed with blood all over. She had been stabbed on her neck,” stated OCPD Makori.

Iten area residents also stated that Agnes Tirop and her husband at times had domestic chaos. They also suspect that she went to pick her items from her husband’s place when the incident occurred.
As a way of expressing their wrath and anger, the residents stoned a car they believed belonged to the guy’s friend.
Prior investigations also reveal that the husband might be involved with Tirop’s death.
The death of Agnes Tirop kinda occurred at the peak of her career. Last month she became the world record holder after she won the 10km road race. Additionally, she clocked a 30:01 during the Adizero Road to Records event held in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
Also, she emerged the youngest winner after she won the World Cross at the age of 19 years. This also placed her the second youngest in the World Cross Country Athletics history.
